How to Vote by Mail

Easy Instructions

Note that you must submit a request to vote by mail in each election, even if you voted by mail in a prior election!  The deadline to request to Vote by Mail is April 1, 2021.

  1. For the 2021 Consolidated Election on April 6, 2021 complete the on-line form to "Request a Ballot by Mail" on the Kane County Clerk's web site at https://www.kanecountyclerk.org/Elections/Pages/Request-Ballot-By-Mail.aspx?eID=21 . Note that you no longer have to complete and mail in a paper form to request a Vote by Mail ballot (although this is still an option).  The deadline to request to Vote by Mail has now passed.
  2. Hang tight! The Clerk began mailing ballots to all requestors beginning on March 12, 2021 and yours should arrive within one week of requesting it.  If it does not, contact the Kane County Clerk at 630.232.5990.
  3. When your ballot packet arrives, read the instruction sheet carefully.  Then, mark the ballot to vote for "Jennifer Konen" in the race labeled "Village of Sugar Grove for President to Serve a 4-Year Term".
  4. Next, mark the ballot for the following three candidates in the race for "Village of Sugar Grove for Trustee to Serve a 4-Year Term": "James "Jamie" White" (who is listed on the ballot); "Sean Patrick Herron" (who is also listed on the ballot); and print (no cursive) "Rachel Rockwell" (who is a write-in candidate, using the space provided on the ballot - double check your spelling!) There's a picture of what your ballot should now look like below.
  5. Be sure to vote in the other races on the ballot as well.
  6. Return your ballot by mail to the Clerk in the envelope provided as soon as possible, but no later than April 6, 2021. Be sure to follow the instruction sheet provided by the Clerk - including signing the back of the interior envelope in the space provided!

Congratulations!  You've now voted by mail!  Wasn't that easy?

If you have any questions about the process or filling out the ballot, please reach out to ISGVG at [email protected].

Detailed Instructions

There are several ways to vote in the election, such as the traditional "in person" method on April 6, "early voting" at selected locations at designated times prior to April 6, and "voting by mail". To save you a trip to the poll and ensure your vote is "locked in", we strongly recommend that supporters of ISGVG choose to vote by mail - which not only saves making a trip to a polling location, it makes it easier to vote for a write-in candidate like Rachel Rockwell when compared to the electronic voting machines used in Kane County. Note that requesting to vote by mail does not limit you to eventually vote for any candidate endorsed by ISGVG – your vote always remains your choice!

Note that you must submit a request to vote by mail in each election, even if you voted by mail in a prior election!  The deadline to request to Vote by Mail was April 1, 2021 and has now passed.

Step 1: For the 2021 Consolidated Election on April 6, 2021 complete the on-line form to "Request a Ballot by Mail" on the Kane County Clerk's web site at https://www.kanecountyclerk.org/Elections/Pages/Request-Ballot-By-Mail.aspx?eID=21 . Note that you no longer have to complete and mail in a paper form to request a Vote by Mail ballot (although this is still an option).  The deadline to request to Vote by Mail has now passed.

Step 3: When your ballot packet arrives, it will likely contain five items.  The three parts that are relevant to most voters are show below.

Step 4: One of these three items are the instructions.  Take a moment to read the instruction sheet carefully.

Step 5: Mark the ballot to vote for "Jennifer Konen" in the race labeled "Village of Sugar Grove for President to Serve a 4-Year Term".

The picture below shows how your completed ballot should look.

Step 7: After completing the paper ballot, put your ballot in the envelope provided by the Clerk and drop it in the mail. Be sure to read and follow the instruction sheet provided by the Clerk - including signing the back of the interior envelope in the space provided!

You've now voted by mail!  Alternatively, you may hand-deliver your ballot to the Clerk at his office at 719 South Batavia Avenue, Building B, in GenevaIf you will be hand-delivering a ballot other than your own (such as your spouse's), be sure to have them complete the short "Affidavit of Hand Delivery of Vote by Mail Ballot" that was also included in your packet from the Clerk - and be sure to staple the affidavit to the OUTSIDE of the ballot envelope!

All ballots must be postmarked by April 6, 2021 (election day).
